If you think grilling was made for meat, think again! We know meat eaters may salivate at the taste of a char-grilled steak complete with the black lines, but you haven’t lived until you’ve bit into a grilled vegan item, only to find your eyes pop out of your head at the sheer glee that is grilled veggie goodness. You can grill veggies, burgers, stone fruit, sandwiches, kebabs and more! Are you hungry yet? Check out these videos which have grilling recipes and tips.

1. Tempeh Veggie Kebabs – Vegan Grilling – The Vegan Zombie

If plant-based grilling seems a little bit boring to you, then let The Vegan Zombie amp you up a bit. This guy gets excited over fermented soy beans and garden fresh veggies (and so do we!) so let his enthusiasm urge you to put the meat aside and try grilling soy products instead. In this video, he will show you how to make a marinade for the tempeh, how to grill asparagus, and give some tips such as being sure to soak your wooden skewers so they won’t catch on fire!

2. Grilled Portobello Mushroom – Vegan + Gluten-Free

If you have no idea how to even begin prepping a mushroom for grilling, then watch this video and let the chef give you some tips and pointers for how to season and grill Portabella mushroom caps. Tip: she recommends that you use garlic powder rather than fresh garlic. It may sound contrary to your logic that fresh is always best, but with this particular recipe, she says garlic powder just tastes better.

3. How to Make Vegan BBQ Chicken – Easy

If you are a vegan or vegetarian and are trying to convince friends and family to eat more like you, then be sure to check out this video. The chef says this is a great recipe for introducing your meat-eating pals to plant-based food. She will show you how to make vegan BBQ chicken out of gluten flour. She’s making a huge version for the folks at her church, so it will probably impress your crowd, too.

4. The Edgy Veg: Vegan Grilled Cheese Recipe

When you are thinking about different recipes to try for your plant-based grilling venture, don’t forget about one of our favorite comfort foods, grilled cheese! In this video, let The Edgy Veg show you how to make a grown-up grilled cheese using oven-roasted carrots. We can all stand to sneak some extra veggies into an indulgent meal like this. One thing that people do not realize about making this dish, she says, is that people do not realize that the bread is just as important as the cheese, and the pan must be hot before you place the sandwich onto it. Watch the video for more of her tips.

5. How to Grill Healthy Foods

In this informative video, Cancer Project dietitian Joseph Gonzales, R.D., and nutrition and cooking instructor Jill Eckart, C.H.H.C. will show you how to grill healthy items. Their beginning statement might surprise you; grilling animal-based products can actually create carcinogens, which can increase cancer risk! To reduce this risk, they choose plant-based items to grill like veggie kebabs, a vegetarian chicken product, veggie burgers and Portabella mushrooms that were marinated in balsamic vinegar.
